Receptionist/Clerk

Posting #2014-15


We require an individual who is able to provide friendly and courteous front-line services for a variety of ratepayer transactions and information requests. The successful candidate will provide telephone switchboard, general reception, clerical, and cashier duties for our corporate office located at City Hall.

Qualifications:
•previous office or receptionist experience is preferred
•working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
•good organizational and communication skills
•able to effectively meet and deal with the public

The City provides an excellent and comprehensive benefits package. Condition of employment includes an acceptable criminal record check.

Maintenance/Operator II
Posting #2014-13 

The City of Steinbach has an opening for a full-time Maintenance/Operator II position in the Public Works Department.

The successful applicant will operate a variety of equipment, such as street sweeper, rubber tire loader, trucks, and sidewalk plow to perform maintenance of streets and boulevards, traffic control, storm drainage systems, and snow and ice control, as well as perform a variety of labouring activities.

Qualifications: 

  • experience in equipment operation 
  • valid Class 3 drivers with air brake endorsement
  • mechanically inclined
  • required to work some weekends and evenings in cases of emergencies

The City offers a 40-hour workweek as well as an excellent employee benefits package including pension, dental and major medical, group life insurance and long-term disability. Conditions of employment include an acceptable Criminal Record Check and Driver’s Abstract.

Parks & Arena Maintenance
Posting #2014-12

The City of Steinbach has a full-time vacancy in the Parks & Recreation Department.

Responsibilities:
•maintenance duties at the arena (including ice making & refrigeration plant)
•maintenance of City parks and green spaces, playgrounds, boulevards and equipment

Qualifications:
•valid Class 5 drivers license
•ability to effectively communicate with the public
•mechanically inclined
•Refrigeration Class Power Engineer’s License and Pesticide Applicator License or willing to secure
•Willing to work some weekend and evening shifts

The City offers a 40-hour workweek and a competitive wages and benefits package, including a defined benefit pension plan. Conditions of employment include an acceptable Child Abuse Registry Check, Criminal Record Check and Drivers abstract.
