Skateboarders, BMX riders, and rollerblading enthusiasts all enjoy the challenges in developing their skills at this attractive park.
Quarry Park is owned and operated by Youth for Christ Steinbach and is located directly across the street from the Backstage Teen Drop-In Centre at 220 Lumber Avenue.
Quarry Park features a half pipe, a mini half pipe, three grind boxes, a box jump with a hubba, a 12 foot vertical wall, a wedge hip, two 4 foot quarter pipes (16 feet wide), a 5 foot quarter pipe, and a 4 foot spine. Supervisors are on duty Monday to Friday, 7:30-10:30 pm in the skatepark, with one supervisor available during most days. A zero tolerance policy for all alcohol and drug use in the skatepark and Backstage area is enforced. No mountain bikes are allowed.
Generally, there are anywhere from 10-20 riders (BMX and Skateboard) in the evenings at the park. Quarry Park hosts the annual Street Havoc Competition, where anywhere from 30-60 riders come out to compete with local riders. This park is also the location for Skate/BMX Camps, organized by the City of Steinbach, and supervised volunteers. The camps run for three days and kids ride, compete, and learn new tricks during the day.
