Parks & Gardens
The City prides itself in maintaining beautiful green spaces for Steinbach residents and visitors to enjoy.

Four large parks, complete with stunning gardens, as well as a number of smaller heritage parks are available for public use throughout the city.  The four larger parks are all named after previous City of Steinbach mayors to honour the work they did for our thriving city.  Below is a list of the different facilities Steinbach has to offer.

A.D. Penner Park

The A.D. Penner Park has five ball diamonds (3 softball and 2 baseball), one of which has lights for night games.  There is organized ball for all ages.  Also available at the site are soccer fields, a football field, playground, sand volleyball court, horseshoe pits, a picnic shelter suitable for large groups, three small-group picnic shelters, and a concession stand. 

A.D. Penner Park features a spacious picnic shelter suitable for large groups.  There is seating for 200 people plus ample room for additional picnic tables or lawn chairs.  This shelter includes washroom facilities, cold running water, and electrical outlets (including 220 volt).  Rental of this shelter also includes the horseshoe pit area, sand volleyball courts, and play structure area.

The sand volleyball court may be reserved at no charge.  There are two additional picnic shelters available that are suitable for small groups of up to 20 people that are available on a first-come first-served basis.  The concession stand also has a covered area with two picnic tables.  There is no charge for use of these shelters.

Picnic Shelter $75 / day
Baseball Diamonds / Soccer Fields - Casual Rentals $40 / day
Local Tournament (plus $100 cleanup bond) $135 / day
Non-local Tournament (plus $100 cleanup bond) $270 / day
Half-day Diamond Dragging and Lining $80 / half-day
Full-day Diamond Dragging and Lining $160 / day
Concession Stand Rental $40 / day
Prices do not include GST.


L.A. Barkman Kinsmen Park
Giesbrecht Street / Woodhaven Avenue

The L.A. Barkman Kinsmen Park is a beautifully treed park with a meandering cycling/walking path, and a small picnic shelter.  The picnic shelter is available on a first-come, first-served basis.  'Abe's Hill' is a popular tobogganing site in winter.


K.R. Barkman Park

The K.R. Barkman Park is a beautifully landscaped park, perfect for a casual outing or a picnic in the circular timber-frame gazebo.  Reservations are accepted for small family gatherings, weddings, etc. as well as public events such as concerts and church functions.  The price varies depending on the extent of facilities required.  Reservations are accepted to ensure availability.  There are no washrooms available at this facility.  Port-a-potties may be rented if required.  This park also boasts the largest floral display in Steinbach!

K.R. Barkman Rental Fees 
Gazebo Rental (no electricity) $30 / day
Gazebo Rental (with electricity) $60 / day

E.A. Friesen Park
Elmdale Street

The E.A. Friesen Park is located next to the Jake Epp Library at 255 Elmdale Street.  The park offers a sand volleyball court, playground equipment and a picnic shelter.  The picnic shelter accommodates up to 20 people.  The volleyball court and picnic shelter are available first-come, first-served.  There are no washroom facilities in this park.
