Election Worker Positions

The City of Steinbach requires temporary election workers for Election Day on Wednesday, October 28, 2026 and during advance voting opportunities. These are paid positions. 

The role of election workers is to make it possible for electors to vote in an orderly fashion. Election workers primarily work at polling places, where electors go to vote. Various positions are available from Voting Record Officer, who handles the ballots, to the Information Officer, who directs electors to the appropriate table. 

Please note that election workers are not City of Steinbach employees. 

 


Eligibility 

Election workers must:

  • be a Canadian citizen
  • be at least 16 years old on election day
  • agree to refrain from any partisan political activity during the term of employment

 


Requirements

Individuals interested in applying for election worker positions must be able to demonstrate the following core competencies:

  • Basic literacy skills (reading, writing, and comprehension)
  • Basic interpersonal skills, including the ability to exercise impartiality
  • Ability to learn quickly
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to follow directions and adhere to standards and safety measures
  • Ability to work long days (at least 13 hours)

Successful applicants must attend and complete assigned training to prepare them for their role.

Successful applicants must also remain at the polling station on Election Day.

Successful applicants will be contacted near the end of September to confirm the information provided, and for additional screening. Only successful applicants will be contacted.
