Biography 

Jake (Jacob) Hiebert has been in public service for the past 52 years, joining Winnipeg Police Service at the age of 18 years and retiring with more than 35 years with the RCMP.  After retirement, he was appointed to the Parole Board of Canada for 6 years and a one-year appointment as a Judge to Stoney Mountain Penitentiary.

Although Jake has served the public across Canada from Vancouver to Halifax, he grew up south of Kleefeld, attended high school in Steinbach, and has been back living in the Steinbach area since 1996. Jake has held numerous volunteer positions over the years including serving on Church Elder Boards, Director of Agape House, Hanover and Steinbach Emergency Preparedness Committees, East Manitoba Region Drug Abuse Committee, as well as many years as a sports coach and hockey referee. He is presently appointed to the Provincial Adult Abuse Registry Committee and the Criminal Code Review Board. Mayor Funk appointed Jake to the Seine Rat Roseau Watershed District where he serves as the chairman as well as the vice-chairman of Manitoba Association of Watersheds

Jake is married to Rae and they have several children and grandchildren. Jake is serving his second term on City Council.
