Effective 2027:
The timing of spring road restrictions in Steinbach will be set by a City Manager Designate and will be posted on this website.
Currently, they are scheduled to go into effect starting Wednesday, March 25 at 6:00am and ending Monday, May 18 at 11:59pm (subject to change depending on weather conditions). View the 2026 spring weight restriction map below.
Road restriction signs will be clearly posted at affected road intersections. All roads restricted to 65% or 90% of axle load are classified as B1 roads for the purpose of weight restriction calculations.

The City’s By-Law Enforcement Officer will be monitoring truck activity within Steinbach. Axle Load restrictions will be enforced and fines issued to violators accordingly.
Drivers and dispatchers are responsible for being aware of and following the restrictions that are in place. The City of Steinbach encourages drivers to view the road restrictions map before each trip to ensure compliance with the City's Traffic By-Law.
Requests for overweight or non-reducible loads to travel on 65% restricted roads must be approved by email at least 24 hours in advance. Approval will be based on each individual request, taking into account current weather and ground conditions. Requests can be made by submitting a Road Restrictions Exception Request below. A copy of email approval for overweight trucks on non-reducible loads will be required of all drivers as proof of approval at time of inspection by the City By-Law Enforcement Officer.
Non-reducible loads will only be allowed overnight or in the mornings before 12:00 Noon and a prescribed route must be followed.
