Soon, residents will begin cleaning up their yards after a long, harsh winter in anticipation of warmer weather and summer days spent outside. The City encourages residents to bring their leaves and garden waste to one of two Community Compost Depots open every Saturday, 9-3, starting May 14 - October 15, 2022. Compost is also accepted year-round at the Steinbach Landfill.

The depots are located at:
Woodlawn School (411 Henry St.),
Stonybrook Middle School (77 Lumber Ave.)

What to compost: Vegetables & fruit (fresh, cooked, canned), Coffee grounds / Filters, Tea leaves / bags, Egg shells, Bread, Plain rice / Plain pasta, Garden waste, Weeds without seeds, Grass clippings, Leaves

Do not compost: Meat / Fish / Bones, Eggs / Dairy Products, Oily foods / Sauces, Pet waste, Diseased plants, Metals, Synthetic materials, Plastic / Petroleum products
