The City of Steinbach’s Fire Danger Index is at Level 2, effective immediately for the entire city until further notice.
Fire Danger Index Level 2 means that no controlled burns are permitted, no burn permits will be issued, all current permits are suspended, and no fireworks are permitted in the City of Steinbach. Fires in enclosed recreational fire pits are still permitted. Gas barbecues and gas fire tables are still permitted.
The City of Steinbach’s three-stage Fire Danger Index is used to identify the fire risk based on moisture and weather conditions. The current extremely dry conditions coupled with strong winds have greatly increased the risk of grass fires. These restrictions are in place to protect the lives and properties of our residents.
The City thanks everybody in advance for their cooperation with the restrictions of the current Fire Danger Index Level and with the City’s Burning By-Law.
More information about Fire Danger Index Levels and the Burning By-Law can be found on the City of Steinbach’s website. Current burning restrictions throughout the province can be found on the Manitoba Government’s website.
