City of Steinbach’s Final Update on the April 21 Water Distribution System Discolouration

The City of Steinbach Waterworks Department has completed City-wide flushing operations of the water distribution system and cleared the impact of the watermain damage that occurred yesterday morning. Public response and testing results have shown that the City’s water supply quality is now back to normal.

There may be locations throughout Steinbach that could see discolouration of their water supply for the next 24 hours. If you are still noticing discolouration at your property, please run the cold water tap for 10 to 15 minutes to help improve water clarity. If the discolouration persists after running the tap, please contact the Waterworks department by filling out the form on our website (www.steinbach.ca/directory) or by email to mheppner@steinbach.ca.

As a precaution, the Office of Drinking Water and Manitoba Health Seniors and Active Living advise not to drink discoloured water or use it for purposes such as preparing food, beverages or infant formula. If the water is clear, it can be used as normal.

The City of Steinbach Waterworks Department thank Steinbach residents for their participation and support as we worked to resolve this issue. With resident feedback, Waterworks was able to pinpoint and address problem areas more efficiently.
