Community Compost Depots 

Bring your leaves, grass, and other garden clippings to Steinbach’s Community Compost Depots, open every Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., from May 13 until October 21. 2017.

They depots are located at:

  • Woodlawn School yard (411 Henry St.),
  • Stonybrook Middle School by the track (77 Lumber Ave.)
     

The City composts this material at the Landfill and uses the rich compost in the city’s parks and gardens.  Compost is also available for the public to pick-up at no charge!

What to compost:

  • Vegetables & fruit (fresh, cooked, canned)
  • Coffee grounds / Filters
  • Tea leaves / bags
  • Egg shells 
  • Bread
  • Plain rice / Plain pasta
  • Garden waste
  • Weeds without seeds
  • Grass clippings
  • Leaves

Do not compost:

  • Meat / Fish / Bones
  • Eggs / Dairy Products
  • Oily foods / Sauces
  • Pet waste
  • Diseased plants
  • Metals
  • Synthetic materials
  • Plastic / Petroleum products
