There are currently three job opportunities with the City of Steinbach. 

Municipal Engineer
Posting #2017-24

Reporting to the City Engineer, the Municipal Engineer will perform routine and complex technical engineering related work for private development designs, design and construction of streets, bridges, water and sewer pipelines, water and sewage treatment plants, sports and cultural facilities, and parks. Assist the City Engineer in application of principles, methods, and techniques of Municipal engineering technology.

Qualifications: 

  • Graduation from a four‑year college or university with a degree in civil engineering, with experience in Municipal Engineering.
  • Minimum of three years related experience as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with a minimum of two years in a Municipal Engineering environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices and methods as applicable to a municipal setting.
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable City policies, laws, and regulations affecting division activities.

Engineering Technologist
Posting #2017-23

Reporting to the City Engineer, the Engineering Technologist will perform routine and complex technical engineering related work for private development designs, design and construction of streets, bridges, water and sewer pipelines, water and sewage treatment plants, sports and cultural facilities, and parks. Assist the City Engineer in application of principles, methods, and techniques of civil engineering technology.

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum three years of related technical or college training in drafting, Computer-Aided-Design (CAD), engineering technology, civil engineering or a closely related field with experience in Municipal Engineering; and
  • Minimum of two years related experience as a Certified Engineering Technologist; or
  • Knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices and methods as applicable to a municipal setting.
  • Knowledge of applicable City policies, laws, and regulations affecting division activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate Total Station and/or GPS survey equipment and to organize, plan and carry out required field surveys with this equipment.

Casual Handi-Transit Operator
(Contract Basis) 

The City of Steinbach requires an individual to provide for the transportation of mobility-disadvantaged persons in Steinbach on a casual basis.

The Service:

  • Is provided on weekdays between the hours of 9:00am and 5:00pm
  • Is provided on weekday evenings and weekends depending on availability of the driver
  • Is provided to all eligible Steinbach residents who by reason of illness, injury, age, or other incapacity require this specialized transportation service

The Individual:

Will operate the handi-transit service on casual basis during the days and hours as directed by the City's primary handi-transit contractor

The City of Steinbach will provide an appropriate vehicle for this service. The successful applicant will provide services under the general direction of the City's primary handi-transit contractor and will require a valid Manitoba Class 4 drivers license.
