May 5, 2018 (Rain date set for May 12)
Each spring, hundreds of volunteers walk through the community picking up garbage along the streets, in ditches, and parks while getting some exercise after our long winter. Families, co-workers, community groups, and friends sign up every year to help beautify the city.
Anyone interested in participating can sign-up at a local church or simply show up at the arena that day. Volunteers will be meeting at the T.G Smith Arena in Steinbach at 9 am and everyone is welcome to participate. From there volunteers will be dispatched and supplied with maps, routes, and garbage bags. People are encouraged to wear rubber boots, gloves and to dress for the weather.
A thank you lunch will be provided, free of charge, for all volunteers back at the arena at noon.
Pick Up and Walk has become a great tradition in our city. It has been recognized by many other communities as a progressive way to build pride in our city through personal action.
The city appreciates all of the event organizers and recognizes the support of participating churches who truly are the backbone of this wonderful event.
Thank you for helping to keep our beautiful city clean!
