Hosting a Garage Sale
Before hosting your own garage, craft or yard sale, please review the following information.
Permits are not required for garage, craft or yard sales in residential areas as long as the following conditions are met:
- No more than two (2) sales events are allowed on the premises in any calendar year.
- The duration of a sales event must not exceed three (3) consecutive days.
- Sales events must only occur during daylight hours.
Garage Sale Signs
- Signs may be placed on private property with permission of the property owner.
- Signs advertising the sale must be placed no sooner than one day before the sale and must be removed at the end of the sale.
- Signs are not permitted on City boulevards. Review the City's Traffic By-Law
- City employees may remove and dispose of any signage that does not comply with the Traffic By-law from any public space, and the cost of doing so may be charged to the applicable person or organization.
*Instead, we encourage those hosting a garage, craft or yard sale to post notice on the Community Garage Sale Board, located on Kroeker Avenue beside the Fire Hall.
Attending Garage Sales
If you are attending garage, craft or yard sales, please remember that you are not exempt from parking laws.
Vehicles must be parked on the correct side of the street and in the same direction as traffic.
Violators will be ticketed by the City of Steinbach.
