City of Steinbach — Notice of Election 2026
Notice is hereby given that the voters of the City of Steinbach will be taken to elect 6 Councillors from the following duly nominated candidates:
For the Offices of Councillor:
- CARLOS, Greg
- DYCK, Gary
- FALK, RON
- GOERTZEN, Nicholas
- HIEBERT, Bill
- HIEBERT, Jake
- KUMAR, Mitesh
- PENNER, Damian
- PENNER, Susan
- UNGER, Brad
Voter Eligibility
A person is eligible to vote if they are:
- a Canadian citizen; and
- at least 18 years of age (on or before October 28, 2026); and
- either (1) an actual resident of the City of Steinbach for a period of at least six months prior to election day (since April 28, 2026) or (2) a registered owner of land in the City of Steinbach for at least six months (since April 28, 2026).
Identification may be required before being allowed to vote. A person may be required to produce one piece of government issued document that contains the person’s name, address and photograph; or at least two other documents that provide proof of identity satisfactory to the election official.
Voting Place
Wednesday, October 28, 2026 – Pat Porter Active Living Centre
The voting place will be open for voting on Wednesday, October 28, 2026 between 8:00am and 8:00pm, at the Pat Porter Active Living Centre, 10 Chrysler Gate, Steinbach.
Advance Voting
Saturday, October 17, 2026 – Hanover School Division Conference Centre
For the purpose of accommodating persons who are qualified to vote but who have reason to believe that they will be absent or otherwise unable to vote on election day, an advance voting opportunity will be located at Hanover School Division Conference Centre, 5 Chrysler Gate, Steinbach, between 8:00am and 8:00pm.
Mobile Voting
For the purpose of accommodating persons who are qualified to vote, a mobile voting station will be set up for those who reside at the following facilities on Election Day:
- Bethesda Hospital and Rehab — 8:30 am - 9:30 am
- Bethesda Place — 9:30 am - 10:15 am
- Linden Place — 10:30 am - 11:00 am
- Cedarwood Supportive Housing — 11:00 am - 11:30 am
- Parkview Apartments — 11:30 am - 12:00 pm
- Fernwood Place — 12:30 pm - 1:30pm
- Woodhaven Manor — 1:45 pm - 2:45 pm
- Rest Haven Care Home — 2:45 pm - 4:00 pm
- Bridgepark Manor — 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm
Application to Vote by Sealed Envelope
A voter who is unable to go in person to the voting place or vote in advance, may apply to vote by sealed envelope by mailing or emailing the Senior Election Official or by appointment in-person with the Senior Election Official at City Hall at 225 Reimer Avenue, Steinbach, email: Election2026@Steinbach.ca.
If applying by mail or email, a voter may apply between July 30th and October 25th. A voter applying by mail or email will receive a sealed envelope ballot package by regular post, or by making alternative arrangements with the Senior Election Official.
A voter may apply to vote by sealed envelope in person between September 30th and October 25th. A voter applying in person may pick up a sealed enveloped ballot package at the time of application.
All voters should bring identification when requesting a sealed envelope ballot in person.
Please note that persons may request accessibility supports to participate in or attend the general municipal election.
