Pick Up & Walk

Each spring, hundreds of volunteers walk through the community picking up garbage along the streets, in ditches, and parks while getting some exercise after our long winter. Families, co-workers, community groups, and friends sign up every year to help beautify the city.

Anyone interested in participating can sign-up at a local church, simply show up at the arena that day, or reach out to the event contact listed in the Event Calendar.

Volunteers meet at the T.G. Smith Arena (Southeast Event Centre) in Steinbach at 9am. From there, volunteers will be dispatched and supplied with maps, routes, and garbage bags. People are encouraged to wear rubber boots, gloves and to dress for the weather.

A thank you lunch will be provided, free of charge, for all volunteers back at the arena at noon.

Pick Up & Walk has become a great tradition in our city. It has been recognized by many others as a progressive way to build pride in local community through personal action.

The City appreciates all of the event organizers and recognizes the support of participating churches who truly are the backbone of this wonderful event.

Thank you for helping to keep our beautiful city clean!
