All bikes recovered by the City that are not claimed and have been in the City's possession for a minimum 6 months are allocated to the annual bike sale held each spring. Since 2019, the city has used local online auction services to sell recovered bikes. Information for the online auction is posted on the City’s website as well as the City’s social media channels at least two weeks prior to the start of the sale. Proceeds from bike sales are used for city recreational programming.
Please note: bikes available for auction are no longer eligible to be claimed.

The Southeast Event Centre will be hosting a Community Garage Sale this year. For information on the Southeast Event Centre, please visit the Southeast Event Centre website.

Each spring, hundreds of volunteers walk through the community picking up garbage along the streets, in ditches, and parks while getting some exercise after our long winter. Families, co-workers, community groups, and friends sign up every year to help beautify the city.
Anyone interested in participating can contact Louise by phone at 431-815-9223, sign-up at a local church, or simply show up at the arena that day. Volunteers will be meeting at the T.G. Smith Arena in Steinbach at 9am and everyone is welcome to participate. From there volunteers will be dispatched and supplied with maps, routes, and garbage bags. People are encouraged to wear rubber boots, gloves and to dress for the weather.
A thank you lunch will be provided, free of charge, for all volunteers back at the arena at noon.
Pick Up and Walk has become a great tradition in our city. It has been recognized by many other communities as a progressive way to build pride in our city through personal action.
The city appreciates all of the event organizers and recognizes the support of participating churches who truly are the backbone of this wonderful event.
Thank you for helping to keep our beautiful city clean!
