Starting this week, Saturday, May 4, residents can bring their yard and garden waste to one of three Community Compost Depots; the depots are open every Saturday, 9-3, until October 12, 2024.

The depots are located at:

  • Woodlawn School (411 Henry St.),
  • Stonybrook Middle School (77 Lumber Ave.)
  • Smith Neufeld Jodoin Law Office Lot (85 Provincial Trunk Hwy 12)  

What to compost: 

  • Vegetables & fruit (fresh, cooked, canned)
  • Coffee grounds / Filters
  • Tea leaves / bags
  • Egg shells
  • Bread
  • Plain rice / Plain pasta
  • Garden waste
  • Weeds without seeds
  • Grass clippings
  • Leaves

Do not compost: 

  • Meat / Fish / Bones
  • Eggs / Dairy Products
  • Oily foods / Sauces
  • Pet waste
  • Diseased plants
  • Metals
  • Synthetic materials
  • Plastic / Petroleum products

Please note that compost is also accepted year-round at the Steinbach Landfill.
