Compost and Organics
A community composting program is implemented at the landfill to help divert compostable yard/garden and kitchen waste from the other garbage.
You can drop off yard/garden and kitchen waste at one of three compost depot locations in Steinbach from May to October or at the landfill year-round.
The City composts all the materials collected at both the depots and the landfill. When it is ready, the compost will be used in the City's parks and gardens, and will be made available for the public to pick-up at no charge (residential quantities only).
Community Compost Depots
Bring your yard/garden and kitchen waste to Steinbach's Community Compost Depots, open every Saturday, 9am–3pm, from early May to mid-October each year*.
*The depots are closed if the Saturday falls on a holiday. To confirm this year's dates, please check out the annual Collection Schedule.
Locations
- Woodlawn School (411 Henry St)
